Module Description

This module will provide a brief overview of the religious history of Ireland from the Church of St Patrick, through medieval and Reformation eras, and up to the 20th century. However, while focussing on the history of the Irish Church, we will view the Irish religious experience in the context of events in continental Europe. We will also attempt to explain why religion, and the history of religion, has assumed such an important role in shaping our conception of identity.

Miriam Moffitt (PhD): has many years’ experience of teaching church history modules in various 3rd level colleges including St Patrick’s College Maynooth, and the Church of Ireland Theological Institute, Dublin.
