Module Description

The Irish sagas that we read and admire today were first put to parchment in the eighth century AD. They are unique historical documents that combine pre-Christian storytelling with an ecclesiastical worldview, the supernatural with the mundane, personal drama with historical reflections. The module will offer a deeper look at narratives from medieval Ireland and how their literary worlds fit within the world where they were written and read, told and heard.

Victoria Krivoshchekova: BA in History, MA in Medieval Studies. Victoria is a PhD student in the Department of Early Irish at Maynooth University. Her research interests include philosophy of language and philosophy of mind in early medieval Ireland.
