Module Description

Pope Francis has had a profound impact on the ‘mood music’ of the Church. This module will explain how in significant respects he has reshaped Catholic teaching in a number of important areas such as justice, ecology, mysticism, holiness, mission, religious life and indeed the Church itself. He has breathed new life into some of our traditional understandings in areas such as ‘witness’, ‘discipleship’ and ‘social solidarity’. He challenges us to work in the ‘field hospital’ that is our world to build God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

John Scally: PhD, lectures in Theology in TCD and was a secondary school teacher for 20 years. He is the author of over 40 books. His most recent book is ‘Inspiration for all Seasons: Celtic Wisdom for Today’.
