Module Description

The module will reflect on the ways in which our ancestors sought to address the fundamental question of the justice of God. We will explore how biblical wisdom literature variously addresses the question of the presence, and indeed absence, of God in human suffering, something that has challenged people of faith in every generation. We will reflect on insights from Proverbs, Job, Qoheleth, Sirach and the Psalms before seeing what the New Testament brings to this topic.

Sean Goan, BA, BD, LSS is a Scripture scholar and retired teacher who has been involved in adult faith development for many years. He has also written commentaries on the Sunday readings and published The Sign: Reading the Gospel of John (2018).
