At the heart of our understanding of Lent is the call to have a ‘change of heart’. The history of Christianity has many stories of people who underwent a complete transformation, such as Saint Paul; Saint Augustine; Joan of Arc; Ignatius of Loyola, Florence Nightingale, Oscar Romero and Andrea Jaeger. Contemporary society speaks of them as ‘mind-shifters’. This module will consider the inspirational stories of some of these individuals and how they can speak to us today and continue to be a ‘salt for the earth’.
John Scally: PhD, lectures in Theology in TCD and was a secondary school teacher for 20 years. He is the author of over 40 books. His most recent book is ‘Inspiration for all Seasons: Celtic Wisdom for Today’.
